x=1: Learn to solve equations!

Find the hard to catch X without paperwork and solve linear equations!

100

From 9gag Really good app! I like how even when you move the number to the other side of the equation it doesn’t auto complete, that is a step I think most kids miss. They try to add or multiply or whatever without writing it out. I really like the blackboard look. I am having a hard time with actually noticing the numbers. Maybe a multiple choice for what the answer would be if two numbers were multiplied?

Solving equations often causes difficulties, either in math class or later in life. At first glance they consist of cryptic characters, which are also subject to strict rules! It gets even worse: Every time we take a step to find the desired X – we have to note down the whole equation again!

But x=1 will save your day! Use it for fun, to learn or to refresh your knowledge – you can now try to find the hard to catch X without any paperwork at all! All you have to do is to connect two parts of the equation step by step – of course only if the mathematical principles allow it. Additionally, you are free to use the equal sign as you like, so you can move things from one side of the equation to the other.

In x=1 you’ll be able to solve equations build with the basic arithmetic operations + -, *, /. To spice things up, the rules of bracketing are also included. 40 exercises gradually teach you the mathematical principles – after that you’ll be released into the huge world of equations to puzzle over an infinite number of randomly generated ones!

    What’s New

    Mathematical regards!
A small update that hints strongly to the things to come!
Now you’ll be able to scroll your equation around – which is very useful for large equations.
On the topic of large equations – maybe you’ll be able to create one yourself in the next update?
    Improvements:
    – Every equation can now be scrolled around
    – Performance improvements, especially for large equations
Also, feel free to tell me what you think about the scrolling on twitter https://twitter.com/xgleich1

Im solving the equations easily now, not by any calculations on my part, but by simply moving the numbers from one side to the other or just joining them together. When I get an equation I don’t understand how to solve like -2 – 7 * 3/4=x I just move the numbers around and it solves itself. How am I learning anything? Otherwise, I think its a great program, the tutorial on basic solving gave me missing links I needed to even know what I was doing. But all in all, Im just moving numbers into green boxes at random (and solving stuff). Help!

Developer Daniel Gronau July 26, 2017 First of all a huge thanks about your Feedback! X=1 is indeed way too easy in its current state! You can solve every equation like this. This is why I am currently redoing the whole app from scratch to allow you to be smart while solving equations! ? Will still take a while, but stay tuned!

Bro, you made an excellent job, I agree with other comments that you should add more complex equations. But so far one of the most useful app I’ve ever found in play store, specially for those that have trouble with math and equations, keep up the good work

I really enjoyed the game, and I believe it will be a good study tool, review, and teaching guide for individuals all over; however, since you said you would welcome critiques on your post:1. Out of fraction canceling would be so useful. I understand if might be difficult to implement, but it would help people solve the problems faster by getting rid of the denominators in a lot of problems and cut 8 step problems to 4 steps.2. I agree with expanding the problems to increase difficulty. This will open your prospective audience to students (like me) who need an occasional and simple study tool to review for logs, exponents, and all the way up to calculus. (If you could possibly do calculus, you would be a saint)3. Overall, your game is well developed at the state it is at. You explain the steps and reasons why, and even explain the why not. Keep it up!

Developer Daniel Gronau April 4, 2017 First of all a huge thanks for your detailed feedback, this is just invaluable!! And for the canceling – this is one of the kinks i want to get rid of with the new math logic i am currently working on, this just has to work! Also, i want to be able to expand the math in the future. So stay tuned, i will work hard on this!Mathematical regards

Only got it to improve my speed at working equations. Edit: This is actually an awesome app, if modified put into the education system it could help children increase their skills at a rapid rate.

Keep up the good works sir. I’ve been thinking how to educate myself while handing the phone. Sorry for bad English. Sorry no potatoes. Sorry for the long post.

    Alex Holberg May 29, 2017
Great app for when you have time to kill.I need a mode with gigantic equations. Not necessarily more complex though. I would also love to input mathematical formula, to shove around the letters in different ways.

Developer Daniel Gronau May 29, 2017 First of all a huge thanks for your praise!! This means a lot to me! Both of those features are on the way and should hit this year. I am currently reworking the complete logic of the app though, so it will take a while! ?

I love the idea behind this app. As a math teacher, I am always looking for apps I can trust to assist my students when they are at home. I love the mechanic for moving terms over the equals sign.3 suggestions -use a new mechanic (perhaps tapping the operator?) to complete addition, etc. I find it confusing that it is the same as moving across the equals sign.-Allow a negative symbol to be moved on its own. For example, if I have -x=1, I don’t want to have to drag both terms across, just move the – -Allow user created problems so that students can get homework help.Great work!

You sir just made the greatest app I’ve ever seen to learn “basic” Math. I really hope that you will be updating this app. 10/10

    Jerry J January 7, 2017
A very good app.. it really help a lot. Recomended (sorry for bad english)

    andrew Martens January 8, 2017
Needs more difficulties, full landscape support, also are the problems procedurally generated? If not, add that to the list as well ?

    Jodie Helgeson February 8, 2017
I had some difficulties with this app and got a very fast response to my questions. It is working perfectly now. Thanks for a great and useful app!

Developer Daniel Gronau February 8, 2017 My pleasure! Tell me anything that can be improved!Mathematical regards
    Daniel

    Andrei Pop January 8, 2017
Hope you continue to develop the app. Maybe we will see more difficult equations in the future.

    Ambery Harris January 8, 2017
U could explore even even more hard operations like roots indices logarithms even complex numbers etc. Also you could have an option where the whole equations position doesn’t get moved about each time I move something, I have to readjust my eyes to the new position of the equal sign too frequently. Your app has potential because the subject of math has so many different aspects, topics, subtopics so if you could develop on things more than just +-×÷ then the app would explode I believe

    Zach February 8, 2017
Is it possibly broken? I swear I solved for x but it didn’t do anything(no next level). Maybe my device is too awful for this app, or maybe I’m just dumb. ?

Developer Daniel Gronau February 8, 2017 First of all a huge thanks for your feedback! We will get to the bottom of this!! Can you first try to uninstall and install the app again? Secondly please send me an detailed description of what went wrong (+ screenshots of it) to [email protected] I will try to fix it asap!

    Arturo Garcia May 18, 2017
Cool app indeed, It would be nice if the dev adds complex equations, I am willing to pay, and I’m sure everyone would pay too!! kudos to you Daniel! Kind regards.

    Alex Kirwan January 8, 2017
I like it, it would be good if there was a success or fail noise and also something like a tick when you get the answee correct

    UnknownApril 7, 2017
That’ll help a lot of people about the rules of an equation

    quontez livingston February 11, 2017

Great app. I also think you should add more complex equations

    steven atkinson April 16, 2017
Sorry I wasn’t taking the equation to completion, I was just isolating the x, it’s working now ?

Developer Daniel Gronau April 16, 2017 Glad you can continue! And as i said, i want to constantly make x=1 better, so tell me anythink you would like to be improved! (For our case – a tutorial is sorely missing, your problem would not have happend, because you knew how to solve it – i will work on this asap!)Mathematical regards
