Currently, many Vivo phones are equipped with OTG (On The Go) features, such as the Y20 and Y20s. These two smartphones have used the latest technology to make it easier for us to move every day.

Vivo Y20 series is equipped with quite complete connectivity features such as 4G network, Dual Band Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and FM radio. In addition, there are other excellent features on these two including compass, fingerprint, proximity, and USB On the Go.

The presence of the OTG feature on the Vivo Y20 allows us to connect the phone to other USB devices such as pendrives, gamepads, keyboards, printers and so on.

Although this feature is well known, there are still many users who cannot connect OTG to their phones to transfer files from pendrives to phones or vice versa.

How to Connect OTG on Vivo Y20 and Y20s

USB On the Go (OTG) is a powerful feature that allows sharing data between USB devices directly. You can use OTG to move files from flash drives to Vivo phones or vice versa.

Besides being useful for file transfer, OTG is also commonly used to connect gamepads so you can play games using the Game Controller. If you like writing, you can also use OTG to connect an external keyboard to your smartphone.

To be able to connect OTG to Vivo Y20 or Y20s, you must first enable the OTG feature in the settings. Here are the steps.

Go to Bluetooth and Other Devices

The first step, turn on your Vivo Y20 phone then go to the homepage and open the Settings application. Next step, please scroll down a little and tap the Network and Other Connections option. If your Vivo Y20 phone has been updated to Android 11, open the Bluetooth and Other Devices option.

Enable OTG

After that, you will see various settings such as Vivoshare, Smart Mirroring, OTG and others. Please enable the OTG feature by tapping the button beside it.

Connect your pendrive to your phone

Now, prepare an OTG pendrive or if you don’t have one, you can use an OTG adapter. Then connect it to your phone.

Make sure to use the Micro USB OTG device. You need to know, there are two types of OTG devices, namely Micro USB and Type C. Since Vivo Y20 uses a micro USB port, so the OTG must also be Micro USB.

Open File Manager

After the pendrive is connected to the Vivo Y20 phone, you will see a notification that it is connected in the Notification panel. Open File Manager and then tap USB Drive.

Transfer Files From Phone to Flashdisk or Vice Versa

Now you can transfer files from Vivo Y20 to pendrive or vice versa. Please select the file or other data that you want to move, then just copy and paste it into the folder you want.

If OTG is not read on Vivo, make sure your pendrive has been formatted to Fat32 and also you need to know, OTG will automatically deactivate if for 5 minutes it is not used.

Also, make sure that during the file transfer process, the phone screen remains on. Usually, if the screen is off, the file transfer process will stop.

How to safely remove the OTG

If you have finished using OTG, you should not be immediately released but unmounted first just in case so that the pendrive remains safe and durable.

Here’s how to safely remove the OTG pendrive on Vivo Phone:

Open the notification pandel then in the USB Drive section tap the down arrow icon then tap Eject or Unmount. After that, you can safely remove the pendrive on Vivo.
